Silver travertine coping and paving around a pool terrace

Travertine Pool Coping

Pool coping is where the stone meets the water, so it is cut from full blocks in the profile the pool builder specifies: bullnose (rounded edge), 45° bevel, drop-face with a straight or rounded top, radius pieces for curved walls, inside and outside corners, step blocks and drain channels. Every profile is produced in the GoodzHub travertine collections — Ivory, Silver, Noce, Gold and the classic blends — and in the marble range.

Specifying

Bullnose or drop-face

Bullnose is the classic rounded edge for a flush deck. Drop-face (drop-out) coping hangs a 2–5 cm lip over the bond beam and hides the shell, which is what most modern gunite pools call for.

Radius pieces

Curved walls are cut as true radius sections at R150 or R200 cm (59″ or 79″) rather than faceted straight pieces — send the pool drawing and we cut to the wall.

Order with the deck

Coping and pavers from the same block selection arrive colour-matched. Lead time for cut-to-order profiles is quoted with the deck pavers so both land in one delivery.

Questions buyers ask

Is travertine a good material for pool coping?

Travertine stays cool in the sun, is slip-resistant when tumbled, and a 2″ (5 cm) bullnose or drop-face piece gives a soft, safe edge — which is why it is the most specified natural stone coping in Florida, Texas and the Southeast. Sealed once a year it holds up to chlorinated and salt-water pools.

What is the difference between bullnose and eased-edge coping?

Bullnose is a full rounded edge; eased or honed edge is a flat face with a slightly softened arris; a 45° bevel is a chamfered face. Drop-face coping adds a downturned lip over the pool beam. All four are cut in our program, in 3 cm and 5 cm.

What sizes does travertine pool coping come in?

Standard pieces are 13″ (33 cm) wide by 24″, 39″ or 47″ long, at 1¼″ (3 cm) or 2″ (5 cm) thick. Radius sections, inside and outside corners, step blocks and drain channels complete the set.

What does travertine pool coping cost?

Cut-to-order coping is priced per linear foot by profile, thickness and collection. Send the pool perimeter, the profile and the collection and we return trade pricing and lead time within one business day.
