The French pattern — also sold as the Versailles or Ashlar pattern — is the four-size module that gives travertine floors and pool decks their random, old-world lay without any cutting on site. Quantity is counted in modules, not pieces. Divide the net area by 16 sq ft (standard set) or 36 sq ft (grand set), add 5–8 % for cuts, and we crate complete modules so the pattern repeats cleanly.
Which set for which job
The standard set is the safe choice for patios, pool decks and living areas. The grand set is for large open decks where 8×8 pieces would look busy. The mini set suits bathrooms, hallways and showers.

Interior 1.2 cm and exterior 3 cm sets come from the same collection so indoor–outdoor floors match at the threshold.

What sizes are in a French pattern travertine set?
The standard French (Versailles) pattern uses four sizes — 8×8, 8×16, 16×16 and 16×24 in — in a 4 / 2 / 4 / 2 piece module that covers about 16 sq ft. Our grand set scales the same layout to 12×12, 12×24, 24×24 and 24×36 in (36 sq ft per module).
Is French pattern the same as Versailles pattern?
Yes. French pattern, Versailles pattern, Ashlar pattern and Opus pattern all describe the same four-size random layout; the piece sizes above are the US standard.
Can French pattern travertine be used outdoors?
Yes — specify the 3 cm (1¼″) exterior set for pool decks and patios. The 1.2 cm set is for mortar-set interior floors and covered areas.
